In the first 10 pages the writer needs to let the reader know in general terms what the story is about, and what is at stake. Plus, set the tone of what world and genre the writer has created, while also introducing the main characters. All the while you need to engage and entertain the reader.

The contest was created because this is an industry where agents/producers and their team are so busy and are reading so many scripts that if you do not grab them right away then they will put down the script and move onto another one. So you have to capture their attention when you’re writing on spec.

——-

Tier 1 – Get full feedback on your script (everyone who submits).

Tier 2 – Get your script performed by professional actors.

Tier 3 – Do a written blog interview to promote you and your work.

Tier 4 – Do a podcast interview on the popular Film & Screenplay ITunes show.

Submit and get your first 10 pages performed! Festival takes place every single month. At least 4-15 winning screenplays made into a full reading video.

This festival has a guaranteed 4 tier set up for each accepted script. (No matter what all screenplays submitted receive FULL FEEDBACK on their work by industry professionals.)

Recent Testimonials:

I can only recommend this festival for the quality of their feedback. Their perks are highly valuable and their hospitality undeniable! This was my first, and no doubt not my last participation in this contest!

A wonderful experience with these guys. Great communication and constructive feedback. Highly recommended…

I have participated in many festivals over the past few years, and this is one of the best. It provides everything you could ask for in a script contest, and more.

It starts with the feedback. This festival takes each screenplay seriously, providing substantial and significant notes that will at least dramatically improve your screenplay. They really help you to see where your scripts need to work with excellent suggested revisions. Feedback is given quickly, and the new presentation option is a terrific opportunity to improve your chances of winning.

I have never taken part in a competition like this that offers the four-tiered competition system. It’s clear and efficient, offering so many opportunities to move your script forward, and they seem eager for it each step of the way.

I strongly recommend First Scene and Short Film Screen Play Festival. For the first time in competitions, I feel like I’m getting value for my money, win or lose (I won).
