When there is a moment, I think it’s important to try and absorb as much information one can from the director or any other film maker. Not just specific things but bigger picture issues too. Learning what they know and what they have experienced (be it on the movie, or life in general), will presumably help deliver a score that is to their liking.

Documentary and Comedy generally do not mix – especially in a film festival screening. This month was a experimentation in programming. We began the festival with three excellent documentary short films that have gotten into every festival they have submitted to. And we ended on three comedy shorts that were polarizing to all.
